The Professional Fire Fighters of Wisconsin (PFFW) advocates an effective allocation of fire fighters, EMS personnel, and mobile resources to operate successfully on the scene of a fire or medical emergency. The PFFW is nationally recognized for efforts in building an emergency response system that delivers a time-critical response to area citizens.
The PFFW, in conjunction with Madison Firefighters Local 311 and City of Madison Fire Department, are conducted our first FireOps Program, a one-day, fire-ground operations orientation for elected public officials and representatives of the media.
The FireOps Program allowed all participators to don firefighter protective attire, including self-contained breathing apparatus, while physically facing and fighting a real fire. Participants were able to safely experience, first-hand, the life in which fire fighters work on a daily basis.
This was the largest Fire Ops event held in the state of Wisconsin. We believe this rare opportunity provided an inside perspective on our issues, as well as, an experience of a lifetime.
